The lenses

Eight lenses, one cross-section.

A lens here is not a department. It is a complete organ of perception — a tradition that, on its own terms, offers a total vision of a person and does not need the others to be coherent. That is the bar for being on this list, and it is why the list is short.

No lens replaces the map. Each one lights a set of points on the same shared cross-section, and when the light moves, the same body is still there underneath. Where a tradition is silent at an intersection, the cell is left empty. That silence is a finding, not a gap to be filled.

Each lens page carries its full record — every entry named, sourced, and tagged classical, later addition or sources differ. The cross-section shows all eight at once; Sources lists the texts behind every claim.
